Nobody eats alone!

No idea who you could pamper with your recently bought gourmet products from Sugartrends? Or new in Germany and no friends in town a to enjoy a big big meal together?

Then have a look at foodoo.de – the ideal solution for anyone who doesn’t like to cook or eat alone!

Oh man, how I would have enjoyed it in my Berlin days! More casual dinners at my long table with many great people who I don’t need to convince through a hour-long babble, to travel from hip neighborhoods like Neukölln, Wedding or Kreuzberg to Charlottenburg. Granted, it’s a long long journey, but for vegetable curry and pear compote with port wine it worth it, no?!

Whether it’s the “wrong” neighborhood or the fact that you are completely new in a city, or after years a single again, or your friends are just gourmet philistines — a lot of people are in the situation to frequently have dinner alone. That’s why I was very happy to get to know Stephan, who founded with his friends Jens and Phillip foodoo.de – an online portal whose slogan “Nobody eats alone,” says it all. Convivial dinner with like-minded people, dating dinners and cooking classes are offered on foodoo.de, for the moment in Berlin and Hamburg.

The idea came to Stephan, when he noticed during a prolonged stay in Spain and Argentina, that there is no one alone drinking his „vino“ at table. Because so-called social dinners are already well established in these countries and give not only locals but also tourists and expats the opportunity to eat at any time together with others. What Stephan himself particularly liked: Thanks to the common meals he enjoyed with others he immediately built up at each spot a small social network.

Stephan, who himself is a passionate cook, began to import the idea of Social Dining on a small scale to Germany. While studying he organized  weekly cooking workshops for the exchange students of his university: He asked the students to prepare authentic recipes from their home countries, which were then eaten in large round. On one of these evening cookings he got to know co-founder Philipp. They got Jens into the boat and end of May 2014 they went online with Foodoo.

The three friends have a lot of plans for the upcoming months. Cause they believe that there is a strong need for social dinner, especially in bigger cities. That’s why they want to spread the concept soon to other major cities in Germany such as Cologne and Munich in order to establish in long term foodoo internationally.

So, dear friends, cook together the recipes of grandma and Co, show what you’ve learned in the last India-vacation on the proper preparation of chutneys, and smite you the bellies full. So the whole thing gets a little spice, I recommend you the red cambodian pepper of Hennest Finest, available at Sugartrends 😉

By the way – we at Sugartrends cook for the teal once a week – because not only the heart is through the stomach.

Cheers

Christiane
