I’m a big fan of upcycling and DIY. These immediately seem to me as a better alternative to our sometimes out of control appetite to shop new products and take consumerism to ever higher levels. Therefore I wanted to know, which is the most popular material for upcycling on SugarTrends?
Curious to get an answer, I had a quick look at our local shops.
And the SugarTrends 2014 – Upcycled Materials Category winner is:
Reused skateboards from Austria – Ok this was easy. I have a strong bias towards reusing old skate boards, and I have said before that the skateboard trivets from Lokal Design were my favorite SugarTrends product.
But I have to mention some of the runner ups. The Demano bags from reused advertising banners, the Hafenholztable made from wood recovered from the Hamburg port, the Bagazine clutches made of glossy magazines from Greece, decoration made of old music books and the most charming gift ribbons from Zurich, bags made ofseatbelts, and of course the famous pallet. No shortage of ideas for upcycling here.
What do you think; did I miss a major one? I need an informed opinion – I should call some of the SugarTrends shops.
P.S. Coming from Portugal I should also leave mention for the Cork Vase!
