What’s Rome? Well, Rome is the capital of Italy and it hosts Italy’s government. It’s the “Eternal City” with a 2500+ years history. It’s the location of the Vatican City, together with uncountable world-known art masterpieces. It’s where the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and the Spanish steps are.

Yes, Rome is all this. And much, much more.

When visiting this charming city, don’t get lost in the thousand things to visit: of course, do not miss the highlights mentioned above, but also give yourself the time to get out of the well-known tourist attractions for a couple of hours: be a local and live Rome at its highest potential.

    Shopping in Rome

Via Panisperna, a suggestive street in the Monti neighbourhood

Get lost in the lovely small streets of Trastevere: and do not leave these streets before trying a “panino con porchetta” and all the nice aperitivo offered by many bars. Enjoy a glass of wine in the enchanting Monti neighbourhood, and explore all its little shops and Sunday markets. When visiting the Pantheon, take two minutes to try out one of the typical, little salumeria in via dei Pastini – you won’t be disappointed! And, most of all: put your map aside and just walk – enter any shop, bar, trattoria, restaurant, art gallery or space that awakes your interest!

After all, our ambitious goal at SugarTrends is to let you discover some of the hidden treasures of the cities around the world. By discovering small, local shops we discover a bit more of the local culture and traditions – often hidden behind huge shopping streets.

KaleidLocal shops in Romeoscopio represents our starting point in the city of Rome. It’s a nice little shop located literally two minutes away from the Spanish steps, in a street parallel to the rather famous via Condotti. Here, Massimiliano and his brother have been making unique glass creations for the past 25 years; obviously, every single piece in this lovely shop is handmade and hand-painted. It is indeed a special place that carries the all-Italian tradition of glass-blowing.

Help us discover more and more hidden spots in one of the most charming cities of the world and recommend us a store you’ve seen while randomly walking around in Rome, whether as a tourist or as a local. Let’s help together these little hidden treasures to be discovered!
