Ey up everyone! Today is 1st of December which only means one thing: Advent Calendars!! 😀
Speaking of Advent, this makes us think of our quick trip from last week to the 8th “Flingern rollt den roten Teppich aus” event in Düsseldorf. Having said this, we would like to start our post by thanking Stadt.Land.Stil for inviting us to the event.
“Flingern rollt den roten Teppich aus” takes place twice a year – November and May. The one organized in November is a very special one indeed, inviting all Düsseldorf shops to open their doors for Advent.
80 shops opened up until midnight, inviting everyone from the area for a late night shopping session. It was really worth going out around that time, having lots of shops offering mulled wine and a wide variety of snacks – all these combined with great music and the omnipresent smell of cinnamon were a guaranteed spirit raiser. In addition, people now spent more time looking for gifts for the coming Christmas.
For SugarTrends this was a tremendous experience, as we got to visit our store, Stad.Land.Stil and speak to its lovely owners Kathrin Mikuska and Annette Rupp. In addition, after a well deserved mulled wine and all those tasty snacks we had, we got to see other stores as well – which made us realize that this part of the city is actually our little corner of paradise. The reason we say this is because it was full of small stores with unique products – from long t-shirt collections to Germanmade leather cases for electronic devices and many more.
Overall, it was a truly amazing experience which made us believe even more in our mission, “buying glocal”, and gave us enough topics to talk about in the car on the way back to Cologne.
